Acai Berry Benefits and Products

Harvested from palm trees in the Amazon rainforest, acai berries have been found to pack quite a punch in providing nutrients and a number of important health benefits. The berries provide omega fatty acids, iron, fiber, calcium, vitamin C, lipids, antioxidants, and vitamins B1 and B2, just to name a few. When these nutrients are combined into a single serving, the results are astounding and range from aiding in cardiovascular health and in combating premature aging, healthy, natural digestion, a boost in energy, sharpened brain activities, muscle regeneration, and an anti-inflammatory.

The berry is prone to quickly spoil after it has been picked, therefore once the pulp has been removed, it is frozen for transport. Although there are a number of forms that the berry can be taken in, the most popular way to take the acai is in its juice form. The flavor from the small, dark berry is usually described as sweet with a hint of chocolate, and most acai users prefer it just as much as the flavors of other fruit juice. The main difference, though, is that the juice from acai pulp is much more healthful than any other fruit available!

There are a number of companies that offer quality acai products in a variety of forms. Tropicana, the company known for its orange juice, offers a blend of apple juice, raspberry juice, banana and acai puree into one delicious blend that can be found at any local grocer—Tropicana Pure Raspberry Acai juice (one liter) costs just as much as their other juice products, while offering the added benefits of the acai berry.

A company based in the UK, Pulpa, makes an acai infused tea that is currently on the market, although not as plentiful as the Tropicana Pure Raspberry Acai juice. Acai Berry and Green Tea Fusion, found in grocery stores that offer a wide variety of teas, comes in packages of twenty-five tea bags and costs less than five dollars.

Acai Max, costing about twenty-five dollars a bottle, is a blend of acai berry, pomegranate,

red raspberry, and black elderberry juice. The product can usually be found at most health stores and, though the price seems steep, it is actually much less than many comparable acai juices on the market.

Though these are only a fraction of the number and kinds of acai products that are currently available in the US, they do offer a glimpse into the variety of products that can be found to suit the tastes (and wallet) of anyone wanting the added health benefits of the most healthful, nutrient packed fruit available. Why wait, when you can add acai berries to your diet today!
